choosing reckless abandon: starting a youtube channel!

Y’all, I’ve started a YouTube channel.

You may be wondering—and honestly, I’m wondering the same thing—where in the world is she finding the time for this? I’ll admit, I question every now and then if I’ve bitten off more than I can chew. And it’s very possible that I have..

Between keeping my commitment to write a weekly blog, maintaining my newly redesigned website, and the busy schedule of the 2026 wedding season, my plate is full. But here’s the thing: I’ve learned that as an artist, nothing is ever truly "finished." I could tweak my website tabs or my portfolio galleries forever, but at some point, you just have to hit "publish."

2026 is the year for reckless abandon // I’ve decided that this year is for taking wild action. No hesitating, no waiting for the "perfect" time, and definitely no room for overthinking. When an idea starts nagging at me—like starting this YouTube channel has—I’ve decided to stop asking "should I?" and start asking "why not?" When you have big dreams, you cannot afford to question rather than take action.

This mentality has served me well over the past few years. Even when I’ve been scared, or when I’ve felt overwhelmed by my own ambition or what I’ve taken on, I’ve never once regretted putting myself out there. I have a feeling that a few years from now, this youtube channel will be just one more thing that I’ll look back on and be so glad I started when I did.

The Learning Curve // Can I be completely honest? I don’t have a single clue what I’m doing yet. I have to figure out how to film my own work, how to edit, and how to tell the story of a live wedding day through a lens; I’ve got watercolor details nailed, but these are not my strengths. But I’m gonna go with it anyways. I want my channel to be an extension of the "Journal" I’ve started on my blog—a personal, interactive way to bring you into the studio and behind the scenes of my life as a mom of five and a live wedding artist. I find that I really enjoy being able to share more of my work in this specific way, combining both the photo evidence of the experience with my journal style recollection of the event.

So, wish me luck! And if you have any tips for a girl trying to figure out video editing and thumbnails, I’m all ears. Let’s do this!

Subscribe to the channel here if you’re a bride whose interested in seeing how live guest portraits work or an artist who’d like to learn how to offer this fun and interactive service in your area!
