release & accept: my intentions for fig and font in 2026

Reflections: From Side-Hustle to Professional Studio // At the start of 2025, I made a pivot. I had two main priorities: taking better care of my health and finally treating this "little side hustle" as the legitimate business it had become. Now that my youngest child is no longer a newborn, I found the mental and physical space to quadruple my efforts.

Looking back, 2025 was a year of incredible productivity. By specifying my goals, I’ve reestablished the healthy habits and business systems that allow Fig and Font to serve my Atlanta and Marietta couples with more energy and intentionality than ever before.

The Theme for 2026: Release and Accept // As we step into 2026, two words keep pulling at me: Release and Accept.

At first glance, they might seem contradictory, but they are actually two sides of the same coin. I’ve always had a tendency to cling tightly to outcomes—wanting to control every detail of my work and life. But this year, I am choosing a different path.

  • Release: I am relinquishing the need for perceived control over every outcome.

  • Accept: By letting go, I am choosing to accept only what is truly meant for me.

There is a deep peace in resting in the fact that if an opportunity passes me by, it wasn't mine to begin with. This mindset allows me to fully receive and enjoy the weddings and commissions that are meant for me—the ones where I can truly shine as an artist.

Why I Believe in Fresh Starts // I know some find New Year’s resolutions cliché because you can start a new habit any day of the year. While that’s true, why wouldn’t we take every opportunity for a fresh start, to try again, adjust our sales, or take new action? I am so grateful for the intentions I set last year, and I’m walking into this new wedding season with a sense of calm and readiness.

The Goal for This Season Whether I’m painting a private estate in Buckhead or a historic venue on the Marietta Square, my goal for 2026 is to bring this sense of "Acceptance" to my easel. To be fully present in the joy of your celebration and to capture the beauty that unfolds naturally.

Now, I want to hear from you! Whether you are a fellow vendor or a 2026/2027 bride currently in the thick of planning: What words or resolutions are you leaning into this year? Let’s hold each other accountable in the comments.. And happy new year!!
